“Jesus said, ‘Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.’ “
- Matthew 28:19-20
We believe that the Scriptures of both the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, and divinely preserved for our generation. The Bible is God’s completed revelation of Himself, His Son, His Spirit, His will, His Truth and salvation. It is our final and supreme authority in faith and life.
We believe in one living and personal God who is the creator, redeemer, and sustainer of all things. He eternally exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are equal in divine perfection and power, and execute distinct and harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence and redemption.
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit that is perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, knowledge, and love. As creator He is omnipresent, eternal, just, and unchanging. He reigns with providential care in the affairs of man, hears and answers prayer, and offers forgiveness and new life to those who come to Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.
We believe that Jesus Christ is God’s eternal Son, and has the same nature and attributes as God the Father. He is not only true God but true Man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of virgin Mary as the Messiah. We believe that He lived a sinless life and gave His life on the Cross as a sacrifice for our sins. We believe in His bodily resurrection from the dead proving He is the Son of God. Forty days after His resurrection He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father making intercession for the saints. We believe in the personal and imminent return of Jesus Christ who will complete His redemptive purposes in man, will judge the world during a seven year Tribulation period, and who will return with His saints to rule and reign for one thousand years.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. His ministry is to awaken the minds of sinners to the recognition of their need for a Savior and to bring new life to those who receive Christ. He permanently indwells every Believer and becomes their source of spiritual gifts, assurance, strength, wisdom, comfort and power in serving the Lord. We believe that the Holy Spirit was the inspiration for the writers of the Scriptures and guides a Believer in understanding and applying the Scripture. We believe that Believers are to walk in the Spirit and to see the fruit of the Spirit manifested in their lives.
We believe humanity was created, male and female, in the image of God free from sin, yet by his own free will fell into sin that brought both physical and spiritual death. Because of the fall of man into sin, we believe that all persons are born with a sin nature and are spiritually dead in need of forgiveness and new spiritual life. We believe that all who trust Christ as personal Savior receive forgiveness and eternal life. Because man was created in God’s image and Christ died for all men, every person possess dignity and is worthy of respect and Christian love.
We believe in salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. His death on the cross and shedding of His blood for man’s sin paid in full the sin debt of man. Salvation is a gift from God apart from any human merit, works, or religious ceremony. Those who come to Christ through repentance and faith experience a new spiritual birth and become children of God.
We believe that receiving Christ as personal Savior brings an individual into a new relationship with God. This new relationship brings a new identity, a new heart, and a new life. The believer is deeply loved, fully accepted, and highly valued by God.
We believe that Christ gave His life for us, so He could give His life to us, so He could live His life through us. The Christian life is best lived by surrendering to Christ who then will live His life through us. By faith we exchange our weakness for His strength, and we exchange walking in the flesh for walking in the Spirit. We believe that this is the key to victorious living and empowered service.
We believe that there is one true Church which is called the Body of Christ, comprised of all those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as personal Savior. We believe God has ordained local assemblies to carry out the Great Commission, to edify each other, to find community, to serve together by using their spiritual gifts, to pray together, to learn together and to be mentored in the faith. The local church observes the two ordinances of Christ, baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
We believe that water baptism by immersion is the Biblical testimony of the new Believer’s faith to others. While baptism does not save, it is an important first step as a public witness of one’s faith in following a crucified, buried and risen Christ. Baptism is to follow one’s profession of faith and is also an acknowledgment of one’s new life in Christ
We believe that we are to practice the ordinance called the Lord’s Supper. The bread represents of Body of Christ while the grape juice represents His blood that was shed for our sins. Partakers of the elements are to be Believers, walking in fellowship with Christ. This is to be a time of worship, remembering what Christ did on the cross for us.
We believe every individual is created in God’s eternal image and will spend eternity in either heaven or hell. Those who have trusted Chris as personal Savior will have everlasting life with Christ. Those who reject Christ will spend eternity in everlasting punishment separated from Christ.
